A healthy Ayurvedic treat! Growing up we were always told that drinking a hot cup of turmeric milk (haldi milk) was good for us and had a range of health benefits. The properties found in curcumin (turmeric) are antioxidant and anti inflammatory and are believed to alleviate inflammation and joint pain to memory and brain function.
The simple recipe was passed down to me by my mother and still enjoy today, especially on a cold wintery evening!
TURMERIC MILK RECEIPE
Heat milk in a pan.
Lower the heat so its on a gentle simmer.
Add in a 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder (you can also use cardamom seeds but be sure to take these out before you drink)
Allow to simmer gently until ingredients have infused.
Transfer to your favourite mug, if you find it too bitter you many also add in honey or vanilla extract to sweeten to your taste. Enjoy!
